Miles City – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will host public meetings around the state to present proposals for the 2025-26 fishing regulations, answering questions from the public, and seeking public comment on the proposed changes by September 19.

Unfortunately, time was short for public notification for the Miles City meeting Aug. 27, and no public participation occurred. However, people may still submit comment online, attend meetings in other communities, or tune in to the statewide Zoom meeting in September (see meeting schedule below).

The other public meetings will all be held at 6 p.m. at:

  • Aug. 29, FWP Office, Billings.
  • Sep. 4, FWP Office, Missoula.
  • Sep. 5, FWP Office, Bozeman.
  • Sep. 9, FWP Office, Great Falls.
  • Sep. 11, FWP Office, Kalispell.
  • Sep. 12, Statewide Zoom Meeting

The proposed changes and public comment received will go before the Fish and Wildlife Commission at its Oct. 10 meeting. Commissioners can propose amendments to the regulations, and those amendments will also be open for public comment at that meeting.

Region 7 proposals include substantial changes for the yellow tag paddlefish season. The fishing regulation proposals and instructions for submitting public comment are posted on the Oct. 10 Commission meeting page on the FWP website at https://fwp.mt.gov/aboutfwp/commission/october-2024-meeting. Public comments will be accepted through Sept. 19.
