This past Father’s Day, a tragic accident occurred at Oneida Lake in Hastings, New York. Anthony Davis, 44, from Clay, lost his life while trying to retrieve his keys from the water. Davis and his friends were fishing when the keys fell in. Both Davis and his friend Wattie Cappers, 42, from Syracuse, jumped into the lake, but neither could make it back to shore. Thankfully, marine patrol rescued Cappers, but Davis was later found by a diver and pronounced dead at the hospital.

This heartbreaking event reminds us of the importance of water safety wherever you are. Always practice caution and never jump into the water without ensuring your own safety first.
