A mountain lion was found deceased in the Sylamore Wildlife Management Area in northern Stone County, Arkansas. The adult male underwent a necropsy, revealing no evidence of gunshot or vehicular trauma. Further tests will examine for viruses and toxins, with tissue samples sent to research labs. This marks the second mountain lion carcass found in the state in a decade. Mountain lions, native to North America, were once widespread in Arkansas. While sightings are rare, the public is urged to report any verifiable evidence of mountain lion sightings to the nearest AGFC office.
