What is wrong with people? That is rhetorical.
A mother, 52-year-old Gail Freer and her 29-year-old son, Corey Loving II, poached two eight-month-old bear cubs in Oregon last fall. According to a press release by Oregon Dept of Fish and Wildlife, the two were trespassing on private land when the shooting occurred.
Aside from the fact that it is illegal to hunt bears under one year old and they were trespassing, the two carcasses were abandoned and left to waste.
The crime was reported to the Turn In Poachers (TIP) line anonymously.
Their punishment includes for them to “pay $15,000 in damages, lost hunting privileges for three years and will be on bench probation for 60 months, according to Lincoln County Court documents”.
